// Amy’s Musings » Halloween… Not For Weenies

At least not in this household…

Check out our lovely works of Halloween art - 100% edible, too!

These are the kids’ favorite “corpse finger cookies” that I make every Halloween. They are actually pretty freaky looking. So freaky that my mother refused to eat them even though I used one of her recipes to make them. ;o)

Currently, we are watching “Scariest Places on Earth” on ABC Family. Some really goofy teenagers spent the night in the Borden family home - as in Lizzie Borden. Eeeek!!

Woah! Those cookies do look creepy! I’d eat them, as long as there isn’t red icing inside. :)

ZubeThey do look creepy, don’t they? The kids really get a kick out them too! No red icing… even I won’t go that far. LOL

Crazy Lady says:

COOL!!!!! I want to know how you made them. I would sooooo make them for my kids.

Amy says:

Crazy Lady Thanks! Okey dokey… recipe as follows:

1 cup butter
2 1/4 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 325

Beat butter on high with electric mixer for about 30 seconds. Add half of the flour, the sugar, vanilla and 1 tablespoon of water. Beat till thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour.

Now… shape into “finger” shapes making sure to make some crooked and knobby. Go back and use a butter knife to add creases where the knuckles would be. Finally, take sliced almonds and lightly press into the “nail bed.”

Bake at 325 for 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned… don’t let the tops brown.

That’s it!

This recipe is actually the recipe for “Sandies” in the Better Homes and Garden Cookbook (the red and white plaid one).
