Oh Crap…

I’m officially the proud but nervous owner of a high school freshman.

One might think that a milestone like this would be an opportunity for reflection and quiet contemplation…

Apparently not.

Tuesday was the class graduation trip to Magic Mountain… today was the final day during which they spent 4 hours practicing for graduation. Tomorrow at 9am they start walking across the stage at the local university.

Oddly enough, it does seem like just a year or two ago I was taking him to kindergarten. The time really has flown by and while this is a prime opportunity to get all weepy over my only son, my firstborn, my “mini-me” who now towers over me at 5′ 10″

All I have to do is look at this picture:

and I realize that I haven’t really lost a child, I’ve gained a jackass.

That makes tear up and shutter at the same time. Soon my big guy will be in that same category. Not a boy, not yet a man, but 100% snarky ass.

Kentucky Girl Thank you… I don’t take a lot of credit though, I think I just got really lucky.

donna Thank you! I think he’s pretty cute, too. He’s proof that good things can still come out of the gene pool. LOL

MrsFortune LOL - Thank you very much. You know… you’ll blink twice and be there yourself. I’m just sayin’ it goes by so fast.

Joefish Yes, yes they do. I have to say that Ethan read this post and loved it… he thinks it is very funny that I refer to him as a jackass. Ugh… teenagers.

Crazy Lady You should have seen me at the graduation today. He came out to take his seat (in the long line of the Class of 2006) and I just teared up. I’d been so cool about it and WHAMMO there it went.

I have an 8th grader graduating Monday night. Although I’m not sure they’ll let me into graduation, seeing how I’m much too young to be the mother of a high school freshman, and all.

Awwww. I empathize, youngest will be a Junior next year. I can’t explain how it happens - weren’t we just at Chuck E. Cheese for her 10th birthday party last week? LOL

Handsome young man you have raised there - you should be mighty proud!

Holy Shit! I remember watching that movie and thinking “Josh Brolin is a hottie”!

  20. Amy said,

GeminiWisdom I have to be honest and say that I thought Josh Brolin was such a hottie in “Goonies” later I had major “things” for Corey Haim (loved Lost Boys) and Sean Astin (pre-Hobbit, obviously)…

But the acting in this movie was really… ugh!

I love my Burt’s Bees! I have dozens of them, all over the house. Because, do I really want to walk 10 feet to the kitchen to get one? Nope!

JoeFish Hey.. that’s what my mom always told me so I’m stickin’ to it.

Zazzafooky It’s awesome isn’t it? I use a bunch of Bath and Bodyworks stuff with it (like the fizzy foot soak from True Blue Spa) talk about HEAVEN!!!

Crazy Lady Same here! I have the lip balm on right now, that stuff works MIRACLES!!!
