// Amy’s Musings » FOAD - Friday….

Yes, I know it’s not Friday, I’m just borrowing a thing from Miss Ann to describe what my Friday was like.

I typically don’t blog about depressing things. I don’t blog about things that go horribly awry in my life, I don’t know why… I would rather just put on a happy face and make light of it.

I’ve been able to laugh at the most inopportune times that way, because sometimes it’s the only way to maintain your sanity when things just blow up in your face. I don’t adapt well to change, I don’t care for it. I don’t like to move, I don’t like to leave my house for the most part. In fact, tj and I have discussed a few times how much alike we are in that respect.

I’m not agorophobic, but I suppose I could be, easily. I think I’ve discussed that I used to have panic attacks, I have GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and I think it’s really important for me to remember to take Lexapro every night. ;o) There ya have it.

So what the shit happens on Friday?

My husband was fired. Now, the entire time I have been with this man he has NEVER been fired. He has never been without a job. In retrospect, I should have seen this coming because he was seriously working for some of the most unstable, volatile, borderline crack-whores on the planet. Seriously. The owner’s wife, the “regional manager” (WTF?!?!? Pompous, empty title… there is no fucking region there is ONE office. Idiots) has a serious, addiction to Vicodin that makes her one of the most paranoid freaks I have EVER heard of and that includes the freak-asses I’ve been around who were snorting coke constantly.

Why was he fired? Because they are STUPID, LITTLE, IGNORANT people who are easily intimidated and feel threatened by anyone who might have even a teaspoon more intelligence than they do. Which, by the way, would include 90% of the population, I’m sure.

Mike is a real estate appraiser - LICENSED, thank you, NOT a trainee. 40% of every appraisal he did went into their pockets and SHOULD have been going into some FORM of a marketing campaign. These idiots WERE NOT even listed in the phonebook. They have a website with practically NO internet exposure that someone bilked them $30,000 for. No SEO, no promotion… nothing.

They wanted their appraisers (ON TOP OF ACTUALLY DOING APPRAISALS) to go door-to-door handing out BUSINESS CARDS. Hello!!! Can you say, FUCKING AMWAY?!?!?!?! My GOD!!!

So, what does yours truly do? I built my husband a website, that included NUMEROUS links to THEIR SITE and directed potential clients to order through THEIR WEBSITE.

They did a search for their OWN website and my husband’s site came up and they fired him because in their idiotic, ignorant way of thinking (they know NOTHING about the internet) “he gained higher search engine ranking because he had a LINK to their site on his.”

PFFFT!!! Fucking morons.

He has NEVER had a problem with them, NEVER. It’s a tiny company that employs mainly family, and not ONCE has he had any kind of issue with them. Not ONCE. His boss, the guy he trained under, the owner of the company, was his mentor, he learned a lot from him, and got along wonderfully. He even got along with his boss’s wife (the Vicodin-Whore). Yet, they see this website and fire him on the spot because he got higher search engine rankings (because I knew more about what I was doing then the con-man who built their cheesy-ass site did) than they did.

In fact, when the shit came down his boss couldn’t even look him in the eye and seemed to really NOT want to fire him. So WHY did he? Because the stupid vicodin-whore freaked out when she saw the site and with all the pills she is popping she didn’t take the time to actually READ his site - she just demanded that her husband fire Mike. He (the owner), on the other hand, has no spine and certainly no balls because he’s allowing his entire family (including sister-in-law, bil, wife, juvenile deliquent kids, etc.) to be on the payroll, and the sil and wife are running the show and running his license INTO THE GROUND.

He’s listed on more blacklists and the number of lenders he can actually work for is dwindling BY THE DAY because of their shoddy work ethic and their desire to churn shit out fast rather than quality. I can honestly say that Mike didn’t fall into that and with his own license was able to determine the quality of his work, thank God.

Just so you know, within minutes of this happening, Mike had left the office and I was on the phone with his boss. The guy looked like an idiot, I told him he was one and all he could do was stammer and say how bad he felt and APOLOGIZE. Which, of course, as my mom used to tell me, “You are sorry because someone called you on it. If you were genuinely sorry you wouldn’t have done it in the first place…” which is exactly what I told him. Stupid, weak, pathetic, spineless, ignorant, bastard.

I spent the rest of the afternoon alternately sobbing and going into production. By this morning I had registered a domain name, began working on a new website, and along with our wonderful, awesome friends, we are starting our own appraisal firm.

So, ultimately, this will be a good thing and it will all be ok…

Really, it will.

Because it has to be.

Send me happy vibes please.

What a horrible situation! No one wants to get fired especially the way things are at the moment with the economy. But by the sounds of the people he was working with, it’s probably a good thing this happened, and you can already see that positive things are happening by starting to set up your own business. I wish you all the luck, I’m sure it will be very successful :)

Happy vibes are coming your way. If you’re designing a site for him, he’ll have no problem! You have great design skills. Put together a marketing campaign to target realtors, and since they were such asses, he should completely raid their clientele. What jerks!

You guys are going to do wonderfully! This is just an open door into the future! Maybe talk to an attorney who specializes in setting up a small business. Especially anything in mortgages…it’s a volatile business ya’ know…

Hi Amy! I have enjoyed your blog for a while now and I just wanted to tell you that you and your family will be O.K.. You and your husband seem like very smart and business savy people and you will land on your feet running. Good luck, have faith in yourselves and you will be fine.

Miss Britt says:

Listen you little business whore - this will be an AWESOME thing for you guys! You bet your sweet ass - I’ll bet MY sweet ass - he just gave himself a 40% raise.

Oh I am so mad for you though. He should have gotten a promotion - YOU should have gotten a job there - and you BOTH should have gotten a big fat ass “THANK YOU FOR THE FREE BUSINESS” wine & cheese basket!!! Stupid people. Pft.

(oops - happy vibes. Self righteous… but happy vibes! :-))

(OH - and you tell Mike he better get his site back up there with an order link going to HIM)

Oh my God!!! I love your GO TO attitude girl. I know it may seem a little like the end of the world and crap but you’ve got the right idea.

You two are brilliant and before long you’ll be a raging success and loaded to boot.

I am sending my very best vibes your way!

I have gathered all my happy vibes, good karma and have thrown in a few rabbit’s feet. They are coming over the waves as I type.

Things happen for a reason and I have no reason to believe only the best things are coming your husband’s way.

Amy says:

Everyone I don’t know what I’d do without you guys. It’s been a freaky weekend - but I’m up and running as fast as I can.

I honestly cannot say that I have not had some awesome thoughts of revenge…

But, I think it’s time to put our best foot forward and move into the future as quickly as possible.

Karma can be a real bitch and boy, have they got some coming around.

You guys are absolutely THE BEST. I knew I had to sound off when I posted about it, just to vent if nothing else. But, to get the kind of support I’ve gotten here - is just amazing.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart… thank you.

Erin says:

Don’t look at this as a bad thing, look at this as a new beginning! That is awesome that you were able to do this in a day, this man should completely appreciate you as his wife and as a person! Congrats on your new business, I am sending happy vibes, and I bet in no time he’ll have so much work HE will have to hire the employees :)

Go ahead, I can take it.
