NYC Watchdog Updates!!!

No one can say this better than the Avitable:
As of the time of this post $1600 and counting has been raised. To all of those who have given, posted, linked, or even just sent well-wishes to NYCWD - Thank you, thank you, thank you.
No amount of money could ease the pain and sorrow – and it seems improper to consider that there will be expenses involved at a time like this, unfortunately, that is exactly the case and at the very least we can help to alleviate a little financial stress.
Yesterday, I sent an email to my friends and family here where I live. I don’t care for the term “in real life” because we have all proven that the blogosphere is real life and a true community that can pull together in moments to help one of our own. Differences were cast aside yesterday and people pulled together in a way that many communities can’t, won’t, or just don’t. It was very moving for me personally. I wanted to share that email with you because I am so proud of you, my friends, my acquaintances, and my fellow bloggers.
“I know there are times when you question my relationships with people I’ve never met face-to-face. I know that to some blogging seems like it might be a silly, geeky, hobby.
But today, I just want you to take a moment to see what it is really all about. I’m proud, so proud of the people I call friends. This community I belong to has pulled together to do something wonderful for someone who has experienced a tragedy that no one should ever have to endure. When we found out, everyone “looked” at each other and said, “What can we do? How do we ease this pain in some way?”
Then we just… did what we do. We blogged… and the news spread like wildfire. And now, my heart aches, my head aches, the tears come and go, but at least we tried to reach out in any way that we could. And now, I want you to see and somewhat experience these wonderful people, will you do that for me?
This is the website / blog of a blogger that we call Dawg, aka New York City Watchdog
If you read through those comments and you click on the links of the blogs that belong to the commenters, you will find that people are coming out of the woodwork to support this man in his moment of crisis. You will find that many, many bloggers posted twice in the same day, just to show support. And, many, many more gave of their own pockets.
It’s a beautiful ray of hope and a beacon of light, in an otherwise very dark moment.
Please send your thoughts and prayers.”

I think I’m going to keep the image in my sidebar with the update for the next week until we’ve hit a good amount of money. I’m hoping for a couple of thousand to send him.
Great work Amy!
You guys have done so much. Dawg is truly blessed to have friends like you.
Don’t exclude yourself from all the good that’s being done for NYCWD. You and Avi didn’t waste any time in rounding up the blogosphere. Y’all are very good friends.
Seriously, please do not forget what you have done. Your e-mail has me in tears because I feel the same way. Seeing everyone come together like this is just truly awesome. (I have been crying half of the weekend for him and his family anyways. Not to compare at all, please don’t take it that way, but I cannot imagine losing one of my animals…losing a child in incomprehensible.)
