Funky Palm Trees and Chocolate Martinis
Posted By AmyD. on November 9, 2007
I spent yesterday morning and well into the afternoon at a local private club helping my mom set up for a party she and my stepdad were throwing that night. It’s their annual client appreciation dinner.
I had gotten up that morning with a huge migraine, wishing someone would smack me on the head and render me unconscious for a few days. Still, I knew my mom needed a hand and I definitely had a feeling that the effort would be worth it.
We arrived around 11am and within an hour my mother had the most adorable waiter bringing us Chocolate Martinis. OMG!!! They were amazing! And, it made the work soooo much more fun to do. Not to mention it made us quite popular with the staff since the martinis have a rather silly effect. Needless to say, it wasn’t long before my headache was gone.
We assembled 6′ funky palm trees (geez, I’m wishing I had taken pictures), life-size stand ups of Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe, scattered gold, silver, and black star confetti on the tables around centerpieces of Martini glasses with tea lights and black tulle.
It looked awesome and probably looked phenomenal at night with a view the city lights through the huge windows that surround the room. As always, I’m sure the party will be a huge success.
But, now I’m typing this out and really, really wishing that I had taken pictures throughout the process. Hopefully my mom will take tons of pictures tonight.
And, yes, we were invited… but declined to attend. However, Ethan and Kate got all dressed up (Kate looked stunning!) to help out and I’m hoping my mother got lots of pictures of them!
