Am I Intimidating?
Really? Am I?
I’m not about to brag, but according to my stats, I get hits. Quite a few… a respectable amount. And, yet, no comments. I blame feed readers for this. But, really, why don’t you comment?
Or you?
You?
What about you?
You show up here quite a bit you know… you must find me amusing, disgusting or somewhat interesting. Right?
So comment. Say hello, there is no clique here. All are welcome. Hell, this time of year at least say Merry Christmas.
De-lurk, it won’t kill you… and I don’t bite, unless you ask nicely, of course.
It’s very funny. The blogosphere is not unlike Junior High. There are cliques and groups of people who know one another. That’s because we’ve been around each other for a while. Unlike some little groups out there, I don’t happen to belong to something exclusive, I’m not sure I belong to anything at all, really. The more the merrier is really my motto.
Except in public… I don’t like public…
restrooms, stores, etc. I shop online… I use my own restroom… and other than what I hope will be an awesome dining experience, I really don’t run about town much.
I drink, but I defy anyone with three children and a desire to maintain their sanity NOT to drink and NOT kill their family in their sleep.
Wow, this is starting to sound like some sort of neurotic resume. I guess what I am saying is that, even though I like to hang out around the house in very funky pajama pants… it doesn’t mean that I am not approachable.
So de-lurk, comment… I might even come visit your blog! Unless I’ve been drinking, then I’ll just call Britt.

Why oh why does the forehead have to peel? I have had that happen and it is not fun. I look like a leper for a week… or Goldmember.
Like the new template. :D

Just upgrade your exfoliant to actual steel wool.
August 13, 2007 @ 8:27 am
I did the same thing a few weeks ago. And damn did it hurt. Burn ontop of burn to top it off! I feel for ya!
August 13, 2007 @ 9:18 am
LOL I wouldn’t go out of the house until it cleared. But I’m all vain like that. :cheesy:
August 13, 2007 @ 12:47 pm
At least you can scratch that itchy peeling skin of your forhead. It would be 10 time worse if you had burned your ass
August 13, 2007 @ 4:58 pm
thats as bad as the top of your feet. OUCH :twitchy:
August 13, 2007 @ 7:07 pm
Um, excuse me. Why wasn’t I notified of a template change?
August 14, 2007 @ 1:50 am
I did a similar thing last weekend… it was really sunny for a change (in the UK!), and I was so careful about putting suncream on, but forgot to take a hat out with me and ended up burning the parting in my hair! My scalp was so painful for a couple of days, it really hurt to wash or brush my hair, luckily it didn’t peel too much, but I did spend some time picking skin out of my hair!!
August 14, 2007 @ 11:37 pm
So ehm… when’s the next camping trip?

“Unlike some little groups out there, I don’t happen to belong to something exclusive, I’m not sure I belong to anything at all, really.”
Um, excuse me? I know you’re all approachable and shit - but you are my BFF!! That is pretty fucking exclusive! I only have like 3 or 4 BFFs!!!!!!
December 7, 2007 @ 5:07 am
You dream about killing your family in your sleep? Hmm…how come I only dream about porn vidoes and hairy gorillas in really nice shoes..
December 7, 2007 @ 5:10 am
You know, I’ve had the same thing too - lots of hits but the comments don’t ever seem to reflect it. On the most recent blog I don’t have any stat tracker or technorati anything that counts the cars. I just don’t care. And not having a way to “count the cars” is also very liberating. I figure if people don’t want to talk I’m not going to stop them.
Or should that be…

“I drink, but I defy anyone with three children and a desire to maintain their sanity NOT to drink and NOT kill their family in their sleep.”
Funny, while I was reading this my son was talking to me about a job interview I have today. It involves substance abuse education. My son was laughing at me about talking to other people about drinking. (Wait, I sound like a drunkard now - I’m not, I just don’t hide that I do enjoy a drink)
Well anyway, sorry for not commenting more. I enjoy your stuff.
December 7, 2007 @ 6:34 am
I am deLurking. I come by daily, and I love your blog… and I love Brit’s and Adam’s too. There are days I wish I could be a member of the Cool Kids Club…
I’m saying HI and I will try to comment more often!
December 7, 2007 @ 6:35 am
I always have anything relevant to say. But if if I asked nicely… :sex014:
:lmao:
December 7, 2007 @ 7:08 am
I never get the hows of getting lurkers de-lurked. It may be a little like virtual de-lousing, but I don’t think they make NIT (or is it RIT??) for the intrawebs. And I DO have a feeder, but I also visit everyone’s sites on an average of once or twice a week, sometimes more depending on how often they update.
And I wanna make a inter-clique. Mean Girls style with burn books and all that shizz. No I don’t. Darn It. I AM turning over a new leaf.
Crap.
December 7, 2007 @ 8:47 am
De-lurking (again). I read you every day and have posted comments, though I don’t think I’ve left any in quite a while.
I’d love it if you’d come visit my blog (note to self: gotta get a blog so Amy can visit it)
Remember also, if you are drinking and call Britt, you are contractually required to post the entire exchange for our enjoyment.
December 7, 2007 @ 8:52 am
I think it’s just a reciprocal environment. The more you visit and comment, the more comments you receive as well.
December 7, 2007 @ 9:14 am
Hi Amy!!! I read everyday but comment rarely. Hope you have a great christmas.
December 7, 2007 @ 9:23 am
OK OK fine I will de-lurk
Your right I have you in my feed reader. I’m horrible with all those leaving comments commitments. It just wears me out. Phew now it’s time for a nap.
December 7, 2007 @ 9:37 am
I’ve been cool. I’ve not been lurking. And yes, I find you amuzing as hell. I don’t do cliques or clubs or any of that highschool shit. I drink my Baileys or wine or cold beer (depending on the day and my mood) and go for a walk to visit all my friends on Blogger’s Lane.
Ho Ho Ho to ya, missy! Have a super Friday.
December 7, 2007 @ 9:39 am
Oh darling I just had to catch up on all your posts for the week - can’t remember what I’ve been doing. Christmas shopping (blech), working, making stuff (yay!) and stressing out about not having enough time.
XOXOXOXOXOX
December 7, 2007 @ 9:41 am
I have been trying to ocmment lately:) I’m guilty of lurking too though when I just can’t seem to come up with the right words. Merry Christmas!!!
December 7, 2007 @ 9:42 am
I know that I read a whole lot more than I comment on. Unless I get mad chatty. Which happens only once a year in a caffeinated fit.
I don’t think its necessarily a reciprocal environment… but depends more on a) the types of readers you attract and b) their level of passion about what your blogging about.
December 7, 2007 @ 10:08 am
Hi Amy! I can relate to not doing the “public” thing. I also prefer to do almost all of my shopping online. It’s not that I don’t like people, it’s just less time consuming and easier to go from store to store quickly. I read you daily and find your writing to be a both an amusing and insightful take on everyday life. Merry Christmas!
December 7, 2007 @ 11:17 am
I’ll de-lurk. :)
I read everyday through Bloglines but never comment. I’m like that with most of my blogs.
December 7, 2007 @ 12:19 pm
I’ll bite and de-lurk! I know what you are talking about here. I get hits, but rarely many comments… people are strange :dazed:
December 7, 2007 @ 1:17 pm
I drink, but I defy anyone with three children and a desire to maintain their sanity NOT to drink and NOT kill their family in their sleep
I have three boys, eight, five and a half and three and a half.
but….Sorry . I do not drink at all. Last time I drank was the thanksgiving before we found out we were pregnant with the now three and a half year old. and that was a sip of wine for the toast.
My drug of choice is my bathtub. every night. bubbles candles and a good book. For at the very least, an hour.
However, if I was not allergic to every freaking alcohol out there, I’d be the first to tip the bottle! :sex014:
December 7, 2007 @ 1:38 pm

December 7, 2007 @ 2:16 pm
Avi & Miss B - :lmfao: :lmfao:
Geek - you are preachin’ to the choir!
December 7, 2007 @ 2:54 pm
Ok, Ok, I’ll comment already!
December 7, 2007 @ 3:11 pm
Hey, you make it sound like lurking and feed stalking are bad things.
December 7, 2007 @ 4:53 pm
You are terribly intimidating… I know I’m scared, terrifie— bwaaaaaaahahahaha! Sorry, I couldn’t keep that up with a straight face. :lmao:
December 8, 2007 @ 12:29 am
Holy Santa! If I wasn’t commenting regularly already, I would be now… :ohgreatone:
December 8, 2007 @ 4:51 am
Hi Amy,
Will promise to leave a comment more often although i do drop by often. Feel free to drop by my blog too.
December 8, 2007 @ 8:13 am
I love reading your stuff but I don’t comment a lot on yours - or anyone else’s - blog ‘cuz I just don’t think I have anything amusing to say. Nothing that rivals the amusement of your posts anyway.
And I’m not that talkative. Unless you’re drunk and I can mess with you. ‘Cuz that’s what I do.
December 8, 2007 @ 6:59 pm
Here I am! Here I am!
December 9, 2007 @ 2:44 pm
Ok, so I am delurking at your request, I too am one of the many who uses a reader and is way too lazy most of the time to do the decent thing and comment.
That being said I love your blog :ohgreatone:
Back to lurking in dark spaces.
December 9, 2007 @ 6:11 pm
I’ll delurk just to tell you I read every post you make. I just don’t have anything smart or clever to say. But you’re on my Bloglines reader. As long as you write, I’ll read.
December 9, 2007 @ 10:38 pm
Hi, I’m Hilly! I came here via Britt but looking around, I see lots of people we have in common!
I think I will add you to my feed reader now so I can properly stalk you! And I hear you on the comments. I wonder why the hell maybe 1% of my readers actually commet!
December 10, 2007 @ 4:07 pm
I have actually commented before, but since you asked, I will comment again. My name is Em. I live in Connecticut. I used to live in Illinois. My best friend growing up was Kelley, who went to the University of Iowa and had a roommate named Megan. Megan (whom I have never actually met in person) subsequently moved to New York City. She has a blog, which I read. But she also posts on Burt’s Stache. Which is where I found you. After reading a highly amusing post that had me laughing out loud in my office (perhaps it was the vacuuming of the hamster?) I began visiting your personal blog. I have a blog, too. But it’s on MySpace. And I rarely post. The End. Love, Em
December 11, 2007 @ 9:41 am
My name is Marney and I’m a devoted lurker if nothing else.
December 13, 2007 @ 8:43 am
I’m a little late to the party, but I’ll delurk long enought to wish you a Merry Christmas from one Christmas junkie to another.
