Baby New Year!

Posted By AmyD. on January 1, 2008

Happy Birthday to my little angel. I use the term, angel, loosely, but since it’s your birthday we’ll go with that one.

After a pregnancy that was pretty much a struggle from the onset and included bed rest and one very uncooperative fetal person, my OB and I were in agreement that we needed to end this thing the sooner the better. So, while my due date was actually 01/11/04 – I got a call from my favorite OB not long after the Rose Parade had ended asking me if I wanted a baby for New Year’s Day. I went along with it because somehow I always had the feeling throughout my entire pregnancy that you were supposed to be born on a special day.

Here we are 4 years later and sometimes I am still amazed at the horrific changes you have brought with you. Yes, I used the term “horrific” because in the last 4 years I don’t think your father or I have had a decent night sleep. You are loud, obnoxious, intrusive, destructive, embarrassing at times, with a nasty temper.

And yet, you are the most wonderful little person I’ve ever met. You are smart, quick-witted, and funny. It’s almost as if someone put a mischievous leprechaun in a curly blond haired, blue-eyed little body. Your giggle is absolute magic and can make even the most grumpy, weary parent smile. Your requests of “cuddle me” can be the most soothing sound at the end of a stressful day. You live life to the fullest and seem to wring every drop of joy out of every situation you encounter. Sometimes I think that if we all lived that way the world would be a better place.

Happy Birthday, Margaret Kay!!!
