When All Hell Broke Loose
Liza and Maggie have a sort of love/hate relationship going. Unfortunately, I have no ability to actually own or select animals who are “all there” if ya know what a I mean. Liza is what one might refer to as “passive-aggressive” around here we just refer to it as “being a crackhead.”
She is very docile and sweet when Maggie is carrying her around. But, give Liza a chance to rest up after Maggie is done playing with her and the results are not pretty. War was declared today. Maggie had annoyed Liza and then went off completely oblivious to the offense she had caused.
Liza waited… took her time… and that’s when Beanie Babies started disappearing. Maggie keeps all of her babies in a basket, she has at least two dozen ranging from a pink unicorn to a glow in the dark snake. She loves them dearly and knows if any of them are missing.
So when they started disappearing and she found them being meticulously mauled under my desk… well, the shit really hit the fan.
Maggie would try to rescue a baby, Liza would hiss and growl and drag the baby further back under the desk. When Maggie gave up, Liza ran out and abducted another baby. Rinse, wash, repeat.
Maggs screamed for help. At one point I heard, “but ETHAN… you HAVE to rescue my PONY!!!!”
Ethan is a sucker for a blonde because his hands are covered with scratches.
The bottom line is that Liza wasn’t going down without taking a few hostages with her and everyone else in the house decided it wasn’t worth losing a finger over. This sort of situation only leads to vigilante justice.
Clearly, the blue turtle (not a Beanie Baby, either) is in charge. I knew he was trouble when we brought him home from Morro Bay last year. Ethan calls them “The Blue Turtle Cult.”
I know I’m risking my own well-being, but I think I’ll hide Liza in the laundry room tonight.

[...] there is only ONE person who would do that. The one person who might be a bit fed up with assaults on her beanie baby animals, her bird, and her mouse. [...]
