The Lovely Lush ;)

Ooo, ooo, ooo!

Ok, Laura from Snerkology sent me a link which led me to another link and after the first two links I totally lost track! Hee hee.

Anyway, I have some nifty links to share with you…

1. ABC’s SO not what you think and I swear, I’m going to give this a try once the weather cools off and I am not afraid of developing heat stroke from using my oven!!! This is such a wickedly cool thing!!!

2. Roasted Ricotta Roma TomatoesOMG!!!! These look awesome!!! (Plus, am I the only one who loves her template? It’s so… I don’t know… but it’s something. I likey!!!)

Then, in a totally different vein, I was emailing back and forth with Becky (aka Hellohahanarf @ Midnight Cliff) and I hope she doesn’t mind my referencing her as Becky. Some bloggers can be strange about that, ya know. My apologies if that’s the case here! :) Anyway, we were chatting about beer and I feel so much better to find more beer lovers out there. Of course, when I say beer I don’t mean Coors, Budweiser, etc. Thank God!

The other day Mike actually suggested starting some sort of club where people could exchange beer so they can taste things they can’t necessarily get locally.

It seems that we all have our favorites and not all of us can get a hold of other recommended faves. On the surface a beer exchange sounds pretty cool… I don’t know how hard it would be to pull off and before I dug into that I’d like to get some feedback on it.

And, before we go that far, people have mentioned legalities etc. So I should probably explain that I was thinking something in the realm of very low-key, informal, like when you send someone a bottle of wine as a gift, kind of thing. Nothing serious or high-tech at all, we aren’t talking CASES or something outrageous. Just more like “hey, tried this – its’ awesome.”

In other words, like a sampler sort of idea because, let’s face it, we have the internet and if I REALLY want a 6-pack of Arrogant Bastard then I can track it down and order it myself. But, my thought would be… what if I spent $12 on a 6-pack of really crappy beer? It might be kind of cool to have someone send you a bottle or two so you could sample it and vice versa for them.

Sooooo, Geek? Kapgar? Laura? Any other beer lovers out there? Thoughts?

Sorry, I’m not into beer…but it sounds like a great idea. I love the ABCS thing. Have a great day!

What an excellent idea. There are several beers that I would love to try, but are not available in my area. Like Arrogant Bastard. I wanna try it! Count me in, if you’re counting, that is.

That’s the cool thing about the beer of the month club – they usually find interesting microbrews from all over the place and send them out.

I think the exchange thing is a cool idea, too, though.

  5. gawg, my friend loves arrogant bastard so much he might tattoo the gargoyle logo on his chest. and another friend loves it almost as much, but he just keeps buying their shirts.

i love the idea, but i don’t know where you buy a six pack for twelve bucks. hell, that one bottle that i have to send to you, and obviously i am a slacker who hasn’t done that yet (hi! sorry!!), cost over eight bucks. for one LITTLE ass bottle. fuckers. problem is i do so love the beer (casteel red, for anyone taking notes).

ANYhow, i promise to send you beer by monday at the latest and i have no problem with you calling me becky when talking to the internet. (how about i am just grateful you didn’t post my drunken email that i don’t even understand what it said! hehe)

    off to click some links…

  6. oh i hope you are happy…i am so craving stuffed roma tomatoes and 1) i don’t have any tomatoes plus 2) i don’t cook.

Ah hells yea, Sign me up! :wine: (why didn’t you just e-mail me?) Ive been interested in this for a long time. Except the only Micro in my area only has one bottled beer. Hopefully they will bottle more soon.

It sounds like a great idea. I don’t drink beer, but I know a lot about it because my DH, Rott, loves certain beers. He does love Arrogant Bastard which is brewed not far from us in San Marcos. He’s an avowed Guinness drinker. Loves his Boddington’s. Has to buy a case of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale every holiday season. And is a HUGE fan of the Rogue beers. Rogue used to be tough for us to get until we got a Beverages and More in our neighborhood. I swear that place gets EVERYTHING. They are also online. There are a few others that Rott likes as well, but he’s pretty done with his experimenting he says. However, he does have a lot of beers listed (with the ABV%) on his website at: http://www.rottnroll.com/beerfridgeindex.htm

A local grocery store chain called Dominick’s used to allow you to build your own six pack. They’d give you generic cardboard six packs and you pick the beers from a couple rows of individual bottles. It was great when you weren’t sure if you’d like a beer or not. Not sure if they still do this. I should look into it. I get the feeling that it may depend upon city ordinance.

But otherwise, I’d love to do a swap if there was a good way to send them. That’s some hefty packaging that would be needed. But count me in if you find a cool way! “Cool.” Get it?
