It Went All Weekend Long
Posted By AmyD. on January 27, 2009
Mike and I are often teased about stretching birthdays out. We have actually spread birthdays out over a week before. It just depends on how many activities or things we are wanting to fit in.
My birthday lasted an entire weekend. It started Friday when I received a special delivery:

My birthday present from Chickie.
Then I went off to get my hair done with the girls.
Saturday Mike and I went over to a local restaurant to just spend some time relaxing, munching, and enjoying some really good beer. We started off with clam chowder and oysters on the half shell.
Then some family showed up to hang out with us and we ended up hanging out for several hours enjoying popcorn crawfish, calamari, pasta, steak, and more oysters.

My dad and I. Not a flattering picture of me at all.
We came home and were out cold by 10pm (on a Saturday, dear God, I might just be getting OLD) so that we could get up on Sunday and start all over again…
We had family over again for a barbecue with steamed shellfish, grilled veggies, grilled corn, and Mike’s awesome ribs.
Then? Well, then we had cake. Er, some of us had cake…

Looks like a fun Time. I think you were deserving.

Thank you!!! The hair was just long overdue!
Grilled corn? That sounds so good!
I’m stealing your idea & having myself a birthday weekend this year since mine falls on Friday.

Grilled corn is amazing. It’s absolutely the best way to have corn on the cob. Plus the work is like non-existent. You just throw them on the grill and when they are done the steam coming off the corn makes the husks just slide right off!
Sorry I missed telling you happy birthday so…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I love your hair!

Thank you!!!! I’m really happy with my hair, too!
The photo of Maggie and her cheesecake is hilarious. She is holding on to the side of the plate and looks like she is just daring someone to try to take it from her.

Maggs is pretty possessive of any dessert, especially chocolate and cheesecake would be the runner up to that. LOL
I love your hair cut!
The picture of Maggie is priceless – she is just daring anyone to touch her cheesecake. “Try it and you will draw back a bloody stump, fool”
Of course, I myself have never worn that look when it comes to cheesecake.

You notice Mike is sitting there, right? He’s the ONLY one she would share with.
You know? Not everyone should celebrate their birthday for a whole week. But YOU are DEFINITELY one who SHOULD! :drinkbuds:

Glad you had such a great birthday, and many happy returns for the year ahead. That cheesecake looks amazing… definitely my most favourite dessert, but I still wouldn’t have challenged Maggie for a share of hers!
I missed it! Happy Belated Birthday! :pph:
