30… and 1 Day

New Renter Alert!

Say hello to…
Kentucky Girl!

Very cool looking blog with interesting and humorous entries. Her cat is a bit weird… and you can read about that by clicking on the freaking link already!!!!

Turns out that turning 30 is pretty cool.

The day started out much like any other only after I got home from taking the kids to school my cousin popped by with a very cool book and a birthday cake from a local bakery, personalized and everything! It was so pretty… now that I think of it, I wish I had taken pictures. Oh well…

Just as she was leaving the florist delivery truck pulled up and delivered a beautiful vase full of spring blooms from my dad and stepmom. Not long after that there was another knock at the door and another floral delivery a gorgeous bouquet of lilies, iris, carnations, roses and snapdragons… really gorgeous and all of my favorites, my husband is a true sweetheart!

Last night my pretty cool husband (today anyway) watched the kids while my mom took me out to dinner at a local private club. The club is on the 12th story of an office building here in town and the chef is a former chef from Hearst Castle. Windows surround the entire place and provide breathtaking views of the city… breathtaking at night anyway with all the lights twinkling. Although, I’m sure it looks nice during the day too.

The food was wonderful we started with a cheese platter that was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. We each ordered a grilled fresh fish entree. We finished up with coffee and molten lava cake… it made turning 30 really memorable. Although, I’m not sure which was better the food and atmosphere or the adult-only conversation, peace, quiet, and lack of high chairs. ;o)

I’m dedicating this pic to my blogbuddy Mergrl over at “An Extraordinary Ordinary Life” because she is always posting really cool pics over there.

So, do me a favor (since it is still my birthday week… around here we celebrate birthday WEEKS) and give my oh-so awesome new renter a big fat click for me, ok?

So happy for you! The flowers sound beautiful! (my favorites too! LOL)

Proud of your hubs for giving you the opportunity to go out for dinner – which also sounds great!

Lovely picture too! I love sunrise and sunset pictures.

I will go visit your renter!

  2. Crazy Lady says:

Sounds like a wonderful day! Nothing like a great birthday to make you realize how cherished you are!

  3. Crazy Lady says:

Oh, just got back from Kentucky Girl.. she is funny!

  4. Matildakay says:

Ahhhh the views from the Petroleum club… sounds like you had a great birthday! If I ever got that many flower deliveries in one day, I think I’d faint. Enjoy it, it doesn’t happen to everyone. ;)

  5. Amy says:

Marti! I’m proud of my hubs too, I’m even more impressed that he made it home on time to do it. LOL

Thanks for visiting my renter too!

Crazy Lady I had a great day! I forgot to mention that my kids came in yesterday with a bunch of balloons for me too!

Kentucky Girl is pretty funny, isn’t she? I love her blog template too!

Matilda Kay Yep, the Petroleum Club… it’s pretty awesome, isn’t it? That was my first time there, my mom and stepdad love the place.

Awww, well, it was only two deliveries and I was very surprised and grateful for the attention, sort of, I’m not big on being the center of attention so it makes me a little uncomfortable.

  6. Jennifer says:

Wow! Sounds like a perfect birthday! Happy late birthday! :)

    My cat is…unique. lol

Thanks for the plug, Amy and thanks for the compliment on my blogskin. I’m fickle though and have a few more in the works. heh *blushes*

Thanks for stopping by Amy’s people! You’re more than welcome to come on by anytime. :)

  7. Al says:

Happy Birthday! I threw myself a huge party and drank too much when I turned 30. Your way of celebrating is much more elegant!

BTW, love that picture! I got engaged on moonstone beach.

  8. We took a trip to the central coastal area when we were in SF one year and loved it. We stayed in Cambria at some very quaint mom and pop place. There were some very good restaurants and galleries there and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. That area is so unlike the rest of CA. We even did the touristy thing and went to the Hearst Castle (Is it tacky or just me?) Lucky you to get to live there! Happy birthday, BTW.

Happy Birthday !!!!! My thirtieth was a wonderful turning point.

Glad it was a wonderful day.

  10. Amy says:

Jennifer Thank you! I love your blog, especially the cat post, that was too funny! I know what you mean about being fickle though, it’s awfully tempting to do the whole “skin my blog” thing. Marti (see first comment) changes her blog seasonally.

AL Thank you very much! Moonstone Beach is a perfect place to get engaged. In fact, I read in a travel article somewhere that the J. Patrick House (near the Cambria Lodge) Bed & Breakfast was in the top 10 romantic places to kiss or propose in California.

Antique Mommy Thank you! Cambria is wonderful, my husband and I want to do the whole San Francisco thing with the kids soon. I haven’t taken a tour of Hearst Castle yet, but it sounds interesting.

I’m pretty fortunate to leave where I do. I’m less than an hour from the mountains and just over an hour from the beach. I can’t complain (much).

TJ!!! Thanks you very much. You know, it’s strange but I actually DO feel different this year, most years (other than 21) it’s been “just another year” but this year feels different – better. I’m really loving it already!!!

  11. Jennifer says:

Thank you for the compliment on my kitty and blog. :D I used to have a skin chooser, but I took it off..meh, I’ll change it if it needs changin’. Heh

Kinda dabbling with the code now. ALMOST have it where I can code it all myself. Someday. :P

  12. Zube Girl says:

Happy Birthday!!! Hmmm, Zube Boy’s 30th ended, uh, wretchedly, shall we say, and mine ended in the emergency room with a messed up footed hubby.

I agree with Al. Your way sounds much better!

Hugs and love! Being 30 is kind of awesome! I feel like a real grown-up. Or, at least, people THINK I’m a grown-up, which means I get away with more. :-)

  13. Amy says:

Zube!! Thank you very, very much. I realized earlier this week that I have spent half of my life now being someone’s mother. Very, very strange.

Poor Zube Boy. What a rotten way to ruin a birthday. You guys really tested that whole “for better or worse” thing, didn’t you?

I totally agree with you on the being 30 thing. I do feel a bit different already!

  14. Amy says:

Jennifer You are very welcome! I heartily agree with you on the skin chooser thing. I’d much prefer to decide what people see when they visit. But, I do like having the option of changing it easily per my mood, as well. ;o)

Kudos to anyone who can dabble with this code and be successful at it. I did my own design (and the design on my other blog http://kmillhone.blogspot.com ) and it’s NOT easy to pull off even a mediocre looking blog… and my last design was far below mediocre.

Yours looks awesome you should be really, really proud of yourself.

I wish I could wrap my head around the coding and the CSS stuff and what-not… but I’ve decided to accept my shortcomings and leave that sort of thing to the people with real talent. :o )

  15. Birthday week is the only way to do it! ;-) Happy 30th Birthday Amy! It sounds like you had a lovely evening with your mom.

I’ll be sure to check out your new renter too.

    3T

  16. Amy says:

    3t Thank you!!
Birthday week is the only way to go, I think. The kids sure love it. LOL

I had a wonderful evening with my mom, it was nice to get away without the kids and not have to “share” Nana.

Thanks for checking out my new renter, too!
