31 Days of Tying Up Loose Ends: Day 30: Chilly Weather Wear
Posted By AmyD. on October 30, 2011
I’ve complained before, but this series has been tough to stick to and maintain. I suspect a lot of that is based on my topic. Next year I am really going to plan ahead and choose a topic that will keep me rolling all month long.
The hazy California sunshine is washing over the house today, even in California we get a little touch of autumn here and there. The leaves on a few trees are changing color but most are either just going brown and falling off or are typical California Redwoods and thus, evergreen. The grass is starting to die and in many cases, including my front yard, the winter rye is beginning to sprout. That’s fall for California.
I am looking forward to winter. Even if we tend to get stuck in month-long stretches of drab gray it just makes those brilliant, cold, crisp days with clear sunshine and bright blue skies sparkle even more. Katie and I are already planning out Thanksgiving menu and I’ve started Christmas shopping.
Winter is just around the corner, finally! The chilly air, snuggly warm quilts, and the smaller size jeans I am finally managing to fit into. Yes, that would be another loose end!
I managed to get into that stack of jeans on the shelf, the smaller jeans I haven’t fit into for 2, maybe closer to 3 years. It’s not my ideal size but it sure beats the hell out of “I’m just not going to shop for jeans because I don’t want to deal with that number on the tag.” One day I noticed the fat jeans were looking far too baggy and I thought I’d give the smaller ones a try… they fit. I’m happy, I’m also inspired to keep going because life is too short to carry around this much baggage. Ha!
In the midst of trying on smaller jeans I managed to fill a trash bag full of clothes that are now headed to Goodwill. Got my closet cleaned out, reorganized some dresser drawers and managed to finally utilize the shelves in our walk-in closet for towels and sheets!
Now, I just have to hope I haven’t overdone it with sweets and too much of Mike’s home made chili this weekend… those jeans better slide on tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the final day of this series and my hope is to have my big reveal ready to post tomorrow. It’s taken us part of last month and all of this month to get it ready but it was a huge loose end.

I have to see this reveal. I didn’t know it got chilly in California. I have never been there.

California sort of runs the entire gambit on weather. I’m 2 hours from the beach with mild sunny weather, during the winter I’m an hour from snow. In the summer it’s triple digit heat where I live which is about an hour and half from the Mojave desert and 4 hours west of Las Vegas. Winters here are mild but chilly and damp. It snows about once every 10 years.
