BTS… BS.
Posted By AmyD. on July 26, 2009
You know what’s around the corner. I know you do. I can feel the pressure mounting and every ounce of “Betty Crocker” that I have in my being is slowly gaining strength and suggesting things like, “do the laundry” and “once school starts we’ll need to get back to putting dinner on the table by 6!”
BTS… sounds like a nickname for a serial killer.
Back To School.
I hate the term and am still angry from JULY THIRD. That’s when I tripped into a local store with a giant bull’s eye as their logo and found that all the summer stuff was gone, no more citronella candles, the patio furniture was being packed away (THE THIRD DAY OF JULY) and what were they stocking? Backpacks, folders, pencils, highlighters, lunch pails and every other type of product that flies in the face of summer freedom. They were blaspheming SUMMER. And nary a sparkler or firework had been set off!!!!!
We can add P.O.’d to our list of acronyms there.
But, here we are encroaching on August and I admit, that last week I bought Maggie’s first backpack and lunch pail (matching, of course!) and I’m looking around for the best deals on things that have words like “3 Ring” and “index” and “tabbed divider” or “#2″ in their titles.
Which, given the economy who isn’t looking for a good deal or some way to save money, right? There’s a nifty website with lots of great money-saving articles and tips here http://www.savemoney.info/
They even have articles on how to save money on your wedding. Which, while a tad out of season, or is it? I’ve been married so long I don’t remember what wedding season is anymore. I had a friend who got married in July… in an air conditioned building thank goodness!
I digress, sorry, the point is, that website has tips on saving money in just about every category you can think of and from what I’ve seen it goes beyond the usual stuff of “check out the second hand clothing stores” which is good because that one has been so over done.
This “starting over” stuff is for the birds, my friends. I have to think about pre-Kindergarten check ups and hair cuts and clothes… a senior, a freshman, and one in kindergarten. Someone shoot me.

I’m still refusing to believe that August 1st is next weekend. And I’m in absolute denial that BTS is fast approaching. I’m going back to hiding under my rock now :lickit:
At first… I thought this said BTK… BS.
I was thinking about BTS this weekend. I’m not happy at all about it. I’m very sad that I’m only buying for one this year. In 4 years I won’t be buying for any.
Our first day of school is two weeks from yesterday… I go back to work this Friday. I’m feeling your pain and then some!
I understand soooooooo well. I have a college sophomore, a senior, a freshman, and a 4th grader ANNNNNNNDDDD I have to get my sh**t together in MY classroom.
I hate the back to school stuff. It should be banned until Aug.1. :mob:
Good luck!

it sucks. i’ve said in the past, working in retail, that one day there will be a 20 foot section of shelves split into 4 foot sections with all the major holidays represented on it.
