Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

You’ll never guess what is in this amazing Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough dip. It’s as close as you can get to eating cookie dough without the raw eggs, butter, and flour. All those ingredients have been replaced with chickpeas and ground almonds. No, I’m not kidding. Yes, it’s amazing.

In fact, it’s darn near healthy. After all, chickpeas have numerous health benefits. And, so do almonds.

Personally, if it’s not hummus, I’m not the biggest fan of garbanzo beans. When Katie came across this recipe on Pinterest my curiosity was piqued. I’ve tweaked the recipe a bit because it called for peanut butter and we found that it gave it an overwhelming peanut butter flavor and no real chocolate chip cookie dough taste. It took a couple of batches but I think we’ve finally nailed the best recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough dip.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

1 1/2 – 2 cups chickpeas/garbanzo beans
1/3 cup oatmeal or ground flaxseed (I’m a huge flaxseed fan!)
1/3 cup ground almonds
1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
1/3 +/- cup dark brown sugar (or maple syrup, or sweetener of choice)
3 tsps vanilla extract
1/2 tsp sea salt (possibly a bit more)
1/3 – 1/2 cup chocolate chips

You get a better result if you use a sweetener that has a brown sugar flavor, so I prefer organic, dark brown sugar. Also – unless you want an oatmeal texture, I highly recommend running your oatmeal through a spice grinder or food processor to smooth it out.

Put everything except the chocolate chips in a food processor and blend until smooth. If it seems a little thick, just add a bit of warm water and blend again.

Taste it, that part is REALLY important. You might need to add a touch more salt or a bit more sweetener depending on your taste. If you have eaten enough chocolate chip cookie dough like I have then you know exactly how you want this to taste so adjust it as you see fit.

Once you have it blended stir in your chocolate chips and chill in the fridge. My girls have zero patience so we rarely wait for it to chill – you might skip chilling it altogether. 😉
