Now You See Her… Now You Don’t…

The incredible vanishing blogger! Ta da!!!
You know how every once in a while you read those posts where someone says, “wow, maybe my obsession with blogging is over? Maybe I don’t care about this as much as I used to. Maybe I’ll take a break, maybe I’ll stop, maybe I’ll disappear…?”
Then people leave comments like, “It’s your blog…” “This is your personal space do as you wish…” “No one can tell you when or what to post…” blah blah blah.
I went there for a day or two. Then I came back because I always come back. And, it’s not like anyone really notices or cares and those who do are the people I really care about anyway. And, let’s face it, you guys know who you are so no need to get all link-lovey and make one of those silly, mushy spectacles that people like to make.
:barf:
Let me give you some run-downs on the recent happenings at Casa Doran.
- Kate is graduating from 8th grade! Which brings back fond memories of Ethan’s graduation, of course. We have the perfect dress, the perfect highlights in her hair, we just need a few accessories to put the icing on the cake!
It is absolutely bizarre to think that this September I will have a freshman, a senior and one in kindergarten. Ugh.
- Ethan is coming up on his 6 month anniversary of having 26 lymph nodes removed in a surgery that took several hours and required a week of hospitalization. If you happen to be one of the people who are so ridiculously, stupid, self-centered and ignorant to think that this ordeal was over when we got the pathology report back saying the lymph nodes were cancer free… then once again you would be wrong and quite consistent in your stupidity and ignorance. But, that’s okay because I’m used to it now.
We are getting ready to go back down to UCLA next month for CT scans and blood work. Let’s be honest, sure, the chances of a recurrence are very, very tiny… but if there weren’t a chance Ethan wouldn’t need 6 month check ups, now would he? And, we can go around and try to pretend to be normal all we want, but the fact is, until we hit that FIVE YEAR mark – nothing is going to be normal.
- We’re still working on the outdoor kitchen. Next up a mist cooling system and some mega-fans. Triple digit heat BEWARE!!!
- Mike is gearing up to compete in a Kansas City Barbecue Association sanctioned barbecue competition. It’s a charity fundraiser held here in Bakersfield for the benefit of the Children’s Miracle Network.
Summer is coming and we are looking forward to a much needed break. The kids are tired and ready for some fun. Kate and I are planning an end of the year slumber party, we’ve got camping trips, fishing trips, and our annual 4th of July party all planned out.
I’m planning on one long, drama-free, summer.

I’ll be thinking of your family and Ethan as you head to UCLA. IT WILL BE FINE! Because the universe knows I will kick its ass if it dares to mess with you guys.
You so deserve a long, drama free summer. You’ve definitely had more then your fair share of crapola. Here’s to you getting the much needed rest and relaxation you deserve :toya: and know that Ethan (and the rest of you) are in my thoughts and prayers when you head to UCLA. Only good news will come, I’m sure :pph:

I’ve got my fingers crossed for all of you. :pph:
Marissa’s last blog post..When can I have a real arm to practice on?
If I were to ever quit blogging, I’d just slink away without any kind of warning. Just kill it all. Not that I plan on that soon since I’ve paid for the space though
I can’t wait to see photos of Kate’s graduation! I’m sure she’s going to look glowingly fantastic.
For the next 5 years, you will have semi-annual trips to UCLA. They will find nothing. You will all go somewhere good to eat afterwards. Let it be written. Let it be known! I say so, dammit.
A mist cooling system? Cool beans! You will have the most popular patio in the neighborhood (if you don’t already).
Dear Hating Assholes that want to give My Amy shit – Bite me & go away. Thank you.

Amen to the long, relaxing summer!!
Wow…I keep forgetting how similar in age our kids are. My Daniel is graduating from the 8th grade, too, and next year I will have a sophomore in college, a senior, a freshman, and a 4th grader!! :aooga: :help: :wha:
We’ll survive…..right?
J.
Your doing just fine – I think. Ethan is gonna get to the 5 year point before you can believe it. – No problemo.
Beamer
Holy cow, y’all have been busy! You definitely need to be wastin’ away again in Margaritaville!
Keep us posted about Ethan’s check up, please.
Tense Teacher’s last blog post..Definitely Not A Coincidence
I’m praying you get your long drama-free summer! If any family deserves it, yours does!!!
We all take time off from blogging. And those that are friends will be waiting when you come back
Taylor has her 8th grade graduation the first week of June. Its nice to have friend with a daughter the same age. I take comfort in knowing that I’m not alone!! My other little monster will start PreK.
Good luck with the UCLA trip. I will keep all of you in my prayers. And if you have any questions or whatever, just let me know!!!
And woo-hoo for a drama free summer
