Shutting The Factory Down
Posted By AmyD. on November 8, 2010
There are days when I come across really cute baby clothes and remember the fun I had shopping for clothes for Katie and Maggie when they were babies. Not that I have any interest in having another baby around. Really… I’m done-done. Happily so. To say Maggie broke the mold is an understatement. She didn’t just break a mold, she wrecked the whole factory!
Besides, there is no way Maggie would tolerate a younger sibling. She doesn’t like sharing her parents with pets and jobs let alone another child. Her temperament really fits the age gap between the three siblings. I wouldn’t say she is spoiled, she’s just well-suited to being the baby of the family. Unlike her older siblings who pretty much liked the thought of a little brother or sister, Maggie is clearly horrified if anyone even jokes about another little Doran coming along.
Not that Maggie doesn’t like other kids or play well with them. She has younger cousins that she adores and plays very well with. Maggie becomes the Peter Pan leading the “Lost Boys” happily on whatever adventure springs to mind. But, those cousins come for visits or she visits them, I don’t think an additional full-time resident would be appreciated. Unless the new resident is the rat terrier puppy she is determined to have.
Personally, I’d rather go the puppy route than new baby route anyway. Don’t get me wrong, I love babies. From time to time I might miss having a squishy, cuddly, baby around but I definitely don’t miss the sleepless nights and teething. I just have no interest in having any more children. I think it’s safe to say you know you are totally done when the thought of grandkids (far, far down the road) actually seems appealing.
