Thanksgiving 2008

Posted By on November 27, 2008

I’ll be baking an apple pie, Pumpkin-Chocolate Cheesecake, and making home-made cranberry sauce. With a little luck, I might not let the cranberries boil over like I do almost every year causing a huge mess on the stove top!

This afternoon we’ll make the long, arduous, 5 minute drive to my mother’s house for the usual Thanksgiving fare. We’ll eat too much, drink too much, laugh too hard, play a game or two, drink some coffee, and head home late that night.

Then the Christmas season will be upon and it’s all about decorating and getting the tree up!!

Somewhere in the midst of all of this I’ll have to deal with reality and make sure the house is clean, laundry is done, and that we are packed for the ordeal that is Ethan’s surgery next week. Ten days after surgery will be his 17th birthday and I’ve been assured that he’ll be “comfortable” by then.

But, enough of that!

For now, it’s all about family, food, holidays, and good times.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
