The Graduate

Ethan graduates tomorrow night. Class of 2010!
He has been through so much over the last year and half. He’s worked very hard with a lot of cards stacked against him and he’s overcome every hurdle that was thrown at him.
Tomorrow night is more than just the end of high school… for Ethan in a very special way, it’s the beginning of the rest of his life. And, I know that for him “life” has a very different meaning than it does for your average 18 year old. He has an appreciation for how fragile life really is and how everything can change in an instant.
Everything changed for him September 19, 2008 and he fought with every fiber of his being to maintain his sense of humor and his dignity in what was undoubtedly the most undignified situation a 16 year old boy could encounter.
I’m proud for more reasons than a high school diploma could stand for.
Congratulations, Ethan. Compared to what you’ve been through, it’s all downhill from here and you deserve it.

Congratulations, Ethan! I know you had a rough time, but going through that will make anything else seem easy in comparison. You’ll have a perspective that few people your age will so you won’t sweat the small stuff.
