What I’m Watching…
Posted By AmyD. on June 24, 2010
One thing I really like about summer is that with the kids out of school our schedules are far more lax and it’s actually easier for me to get involved in television shows. Not that I sit around watching television. During the school year I mainly watch reruns of “Bones” on TNT and try to catch the new episodes on Thursdays. I’ve caught a few episodes of Glee and actually like it. But, there really isn’t any other show that I remember to tune in and watch. A lot of my interest in television disappeared about the time Veronica Mars was canceled and Gilmore Girls ended in such a stupid way.
“Bones” has been my tiny return to regular television watching and I’ve only gotten into it over the last year or so. Aside from that I watch a lot of Discovery Channel as well as the other channels in the Discovery Channel realm. I also try to catch Leverage when I can.
But, a lot of that has changed recently what with all the new shows starting up over the summer. Here is what has piqued my interest so far:
“Hot In Cleveland” – who doesn’t love Betty White? And, I happen to like Wendy Malick and Jane Leeves as well as the always cute and perky Valerie Bertinelli. BUT! I was thrilled beyond belief to find that John Schneider (Bo Duke – hello!) was on the show as well. I don’t know if he’s a regular but he sure should be… that man has only gotten better with age. Wow.
“Memphis Beat” – I got bored of “My Name is Earl” many moons ago. But, I still love Jason Lee (have to admit he made an awesome Dave in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies) and he is just amazing in this show. I was sucked into the first episode last night and was bummed when it was over.
Coming up on my “to try out” list is:
The Glades on A&E – it looks good and I love the song they play on the commercials for it.
Rizzoli and Isles – I loved Angie Harmon on Law and Order so I was happy to see her back in another crime drama series.
Those start in July so I’m going to give them a shot and see how it works out.
Anything new on your viewing list?

The Last American Cowboy. OMG, it feels like I’m back on my friends ranch, with God knows what stuck to my boots and a desperate need for a shower, but I freaking love it. And newborn calves are so cute when they start lay their ears back and look at you sort of confused like “wait a fucking minute, what the fuck you bastard?!” after you pull them.
I miss little calves. And puppies. And kittens. And foals. And chicks.
I do not miss having birthing fluid in my ears and in my shoes though.

I don’t suppose anyone would get used to or like that… I’m not big on water in my ears…
I’d rather the birthing fluid in my ears vs. being stuck in a contraction again.
Shoulder deep in a cow, and I’m stuck there because she’s in a contraction, and her tail is hitting me, and she’s mad, and I’m trying to tuck the calf’s tail down, and it’s just one big cluster.

I’ve always loved Bones, but I’m on a self-imposed moratorium on t.v. watching and haven’t turned on the tube for about 5 mths now. (This happens every couple of years
I saw the previews for H.I.C. on the ‘net … how cool does this one look?! Everyone loves Betty White.
I keep running into the filming for Leverage around town. Should be quieter for a few months now that they’ve stopped filming the 3rd season and this Sunday is the last Christian Kane concert ’til he heads back to town. And the good Lord save me from all the little girls I’ve brought into town to see his concert and how they all talking about “landing” him. Thank TNT for the break from that crap!
Congrats to Ethan BTW … question is, what’re you gonna do w/out him around as much?!
I am LOVING H.I.C. – I’ve seen two episodes now and Betty White is absolutely HYSTERICAL. I hope this one makes it because it’s the best sitcom out there right now IMO.
I’m not sure how I’m going to get by w/o Ethan. I’m really in denial now.
